Do you want to see Job Creation, Lower Taxes, Smaller Government and Less Government Waste? "Commissioner Dr. Eric Wargotz is the only candidate in this race (including the incumbent) with a proven history of cutting taxes, cutting budgets, and increasing government transparency and accountability."
Thomas Jefferson said, "The government that governs best governs least." I believe that government has gone too far and I am running for the U.S. Senate to preserve the freedoms that made this country great. I still believe that what we as Americans want is more freedom, and less government in our lives - more personal responsibility, lower taxes, and a strong national security. It is time for realistic, common-sense solutions to the tough challenges facing us, and that is what the Wargotz campaign is all about. I will stand up for every Marylander on the issues most important to you.
Like you, I am outraged by career politicians who care more about their political lives than those of the folks who elected them. Our government, founded in our U.S. Constitution, provides the means by which we can and will correct this. The line has been drawn and "We the People" is the battle cry for election 2010. All of us have had more than enough of "business as usual" and no political party is without responsibility for where we find ourselves today. It is time.
I am a proven Conservative and Constitutionally based Republican. I stand for Low Taxes; Adherence to the Constitution; Less Government; Law & Order; Government Transparency & Accountability; Second Amendment rights (I ardently support second amendment rights just as I support all the Bill of Rights. Life member NRA); Cultural Diversity with No Bias (so-called "colorblindness); Strong Military with Protection of our National Security: we must not appease terrorists. No civilian trials for terrorists. Illegal immigrants must not be rewarded for breaking the law: No benefits, No amnesty. Traditional American Values - including Personal Responsibility, Love of Our Country. Energy independence is paramount as the lack of it is a threat to our National Security, our way of life, our peace and prosperity. As Social Conservatives, we must respect God and preserve Life. I am a physician by profession and always will be; being conservative is how I live my life and represent the principles I promote; I am an independent-minded Republican.
I admire President Ronald Reagan for many things but particularly, his principled conservatism. We need that today. We must put America first.
Join our campaign, restore America, put America first.

Eric
Eric on Role of Government:
Government should interfere as little as possible in our daily lives. I believe in more efficient government through reducing fraud, waste and abuse in our Federal system. We must work towards limiting the role government plays. It should not get in the way of our lives, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Fewer laws, greater liberty. Government must focus its efforts on delivering to its citizens mandated services of the highest quality. We must ensure greater transparency and accountability. I am in favor of term limits for Congress and I will not serve more than two terms as your U.S. Senator. The U.S. Constitution is the operating document and Congress must adhere to its authorities granted in Article I, Section 8.
As US Senator, this broader principle will be the guide for every vote that I cast.
ISSUES - Our Four Cornerstones
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, & Economic Recovery
True economic recovery must come through fiscal responsibility, balancing the budget, lowering taxes, and creating jobs by fostering growth among small businesses and reinvigorating our manufacturing base. As County Commissioner, I have fought wasteful spending and big government, cut taxes (twice!), and increased government transparency.
Jobs: Free enterprise must rule the day. As an advocate of such, I believe that high taxes stimies growth, results in more people out of work, and leads to a weak economy. Our economy is most robust when people have more of their income available to spend and businesses have dollars to invest and demand to add jobs.
Budget & Transparency: Government waste, abuse, incompetence, and fraud are threatening our children's future. We must reduce these threats in order to maintain economic stability and reduce our tax burden. As your U.S, Senator, i will work to institute fiscal discipline in Washington, voting against non-emergency, deficit spending, against bailouts and against pork-barrel earmarks which buy votes today and are paid by future generations. It is our money being spent and I will do everything in my power to ensure that it is spent responsibly. That is why I support a balanced budget amendment.
I will fight for policies to:
* Increase transparency so that every American can read legislation before it is voted on.
* Increase accountability
* Create a balanced federal budget
Tax Reform:
We must avoid taxes that kill jobs and discourage saving, investing, and working. We need to focus on tax policies that are simple, transparent and pro-growth. This includes moving away from our current tax system which penalizes productivity, ideally, to one based on consumption (Fair Tax) or in the very least, a Flat Tax.
I am a proven fiscal conservative having lowered taxes twice in my home county as commissioner, shrunk the size of government, and increased government transparency. I remain committed to fiscal conservatism, fiscal responsibility, and greater government transparency and accountability at all levels of government.. As your next U.S. Senator, I'm committed to holding the line on taxes and reversing the bad decisions of this Congress.
Health Care Reform
As a Doctor, I understand and support the need for common sense reforms to our Health Care system that will drive down costs, improve care, and cut down on wait times. We must not ask Americans to surrender quality health care in favor of a risky, costly, taxpayer-financed, government-run health care scheme. There are many modifications and adjustment that can be made to existing programs that will drive down costs and greatly improve care. Since this issue affects us all, Health care reform needs to be done correctly, not quickly. One key area that must be addressed is tort reform. Without meaningful tort reform, manpower shortage and increased cost will remain and any health care reform will not achieve the expectations of the American people.
We must REPEAL and REVISE the current federal health care plan and work towards passage of a new plan that reflects careful listening to the voice of the American people and truly reduces cost and improves care . We must win at least one chamber in Congress in November in order to deny funding of this health care mandate.
Government reforms should provide for more options, not less. I believe in strengthening the private maket system and measures which create competition and drive down costs. That is why I support the following reforms to health care policies:
1. Tax-free medical (health) savings accounts
2. Portability of your plan from one employer to another
3. Tort reform
4. The ability to purchase insurance across State lines
I believe competition and flexibility will reduce cost, increase participation and improve quality, not penalties enforced by the IRS as specified in the new law.
National Security (including illegal immigration)
Safeguarding the homeland is the federal government's greatest responsibility and complacency is the Nation's greatest threat. I will fight to ensure our Nation remains safe, free and prosperous.
I support national security policies based on the following principles:
* No appeasing terrorists and not conducting civilian trials for terrorists.
* Secure our borders
* Enforce existing immigration laws.
* No rewarding those who have broken the law by entering the country illegally
* Opposing amnesty for those who are here illegally.
* We must hold the employers responsible who "make the market" for illegal aliens.
* Ensuring that America has the best military in the world, with the necessary training and equipment to keep America safe, free and prosperous.
Energy & Environment
Preserving our environment is an important responsibility, and we must do so in a sensible manner that does not harm our economy or raise prices on working families.
Chesapeake Bay: As a resident of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, I know first hand the value of the Chesapeake Bay to life here in Maryland. The Bay not only provides for our quality of life but for our livelihood as well. The Chesapeake Bay is an economic engine unlike any in the country. The Bay is the reason Annapolis is the "Sailing Capital of the World" As a father, I want to improve the Chesapeake Bay for generations to come.
As your next U.S. Senator, I will balance our concern for the health of the Bay with our need to provide a more job friendly, business friendly environment.
Energy: I will support policies to create energy independence, good jobs, and a cleaner environment for Americans. I will support reform that promotes new, clean and reliable sources of energy.
We need to continue to develop more energy sources and find innovative ways to use less energy. We should continue to invest in wind, solar, clean coal, biofuels, nuclear energy, as well as oil and natural gas. This will reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil and create thousands of jobs here at home. A balanced energy policy which both finds more, and uses less, will strengthen our economy, protect our environment, and enhance our national security.
